Important legal information and risk warnings

Investors should read this legal information and the Key Features document before investing. The following risk factors should be considered before making your investment decision. Past performance is not necessarily a guide to future performance. If you have any doubts about the suitability of an investment, please contact your financial adviser.

The value of your initial (capital) investment and the income arising from it may fall as well as rise and you may not get back the amount you originally invested. This difference will usually be as a result of differing buying and selling prices for the fund on the days that you buy and sell.

For funds paying out income, the level of income payments may not be constant and may fluctuate. Whilst equity investments carry potential for greater returns over the longer term, the volatility of these returns can also be greater.

Where cancellation rights are applicable: if you choose to exercise your cancellation rights and the value of your investment falls before notice of cancellation is received in writing, a full refund of the original investment may not be provided but rather the original amount less the fall in value.

ISAs were introduced in April 1999 for an initial 10-year period (up until April 2009). The government has indicated that this will be reviewed in 2006 and the favourable tax treatment of ISAs may not be maintained in the future. All PEPs held as at 5 April 1999 are unable to accept further contributions. They may, however, continue to be held with the same tax advantages as an ISA. A 10% tax credit on dividend distributions may be reclaimed up to April 2004 when this tax credit will be abolished. A tax reclaim of 20% is available on interest distributions until further notice.
If you start making regular monthly investments with a view to saving for a specific objective, you should regularly review whether these investments will be sufficient to achieve your objective. You may not achieve your objective if you do not continue to invest regularly with a sufficient amount or your investments do not appreciate sufficiently.

In addition for the MFM Slater Recovery Fund
The fund will invest in smaller companies and those quoted on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). Investments in smaller company stocks may be less liquid and their performance more volatile than those of larger companies.

Taxation
Current tax levels and tax treatment will depend on your individual circumstances. A 10% tax credit on UK equity dividends is reclaimable on equity distributions within a PEP or ISA until 5 April 2004.

Telephone calls to Slater Investments may be recorded and monitored.
